Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a referral?
We accept self-referrals and referrals from other professionals.
How much do you charge?
All psychological services related to assessment, psychotherapy and consultation are $250 per hour. This corresponds to the recommended guidelines published by the Ontario Psychological Association.
Are psychologist fees covered by OHIP?
Services provided by a psychologist in private practice are not covered by OHIP. However, psychologist fees are covered by most Extended Health Care benefit plans. Please check with your insurance provider to determine how much coverage is provided for the services of a registered psychologist and if you require a physician referral for services in order to have fees reimbursed. Those fees not reimbursed by benefits may be claimed as medical expenses on your personal income tax return.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is typically due at the end of each session by cash, cheque or email money transfer. Invoices and receipts for payment will be provided.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your scheduled session is a block of time that is reserved for you. We understand there may be times in which you may need to change or cancel your session. If you believe that you will not be able to attend your session, it is requested that you notify the clinic as soon as possible. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. This means that if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or fail to show up for your scheduled session, you will be financially responsible for the full session fee. Generally, insurance providers do no provide reimbursement for cancelled sessions.
How do you keep my information private and confidential?
All psychological services and client information are confidential and we adhere to strict and comprehensive privacy and confidentiality standards and legislation outlined by our regulatory body, the College of Psychologists of Ontario as well as the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Privacy policies will be detailed in depth during our first session. No client information can be released to anyone outside of our clinic without your written permission, except under circumstances required by the law. At all times, you have a right to access your Personal Health Information and ask any questions regarding our privacy policies.
